WHO WE ARE
Art 'Radar 16'
Technician and le Mayor
Art brings fun and excitement to the group [
That's my story and I'm stickin with it!
] When he's not wrangling leads and herding techs Art has got a meter, paper and pencil reverse engineering something. He's an ace troubleshooter, company nurse who claims that tube-gear is 'just not his strong suit' and enjoys the really complicated problems. His formal training and experience spans from electronics to nursing, manufacturing to production tools. You may also see him on a service call.
John 'Golden Ears'
Technician and Engineer
John is our lead field tech and installer. He cut his teeth in the installation trenches of Beverly Hills and Southern California beach communities. His live recording and broadcast experience has earned him 'Golden Ears'--an extreme ability to hear and define errors in setup or equipment choice. You can be assured that after a system tune up it will be the best sounding in town. John is a go-to for world-class design, installation and service of your home theater and multiroom audio systems. John can also configure and install multi-line telephone systems in your home or office.
Technician and Chief 'Tube Head'
When Mark works his magic on an older piece of tube gear, I swear I've seen him work like that wizard in Fantasia--all the parts at his fingertips dance into place and give up their secrets to him. Or something like that--he's that good. His exeprience in all-things-ooold is second to none. Have a precious tube amp or receiver? He's your go-to. Need solid and usable information about the sound specs of aged gear, mics, amps or receivers?
The wizard will see you now.
Technician and Secratary of Solid State
Who ties up loose ends? Ryan. Who can design and build custom audio reinforcement systems--from scratch? Ryan. Bringing an energy for outside-the-box thinking, we've given up expecting him to be average. He just can't do it. His formal training started in electronics and branched into live stage production, pro audio reinforcement and mixing. With a serious installation background, you may also see him during an install. Ask him how his garden grows.
Joe the ´Chief'
Technician and All-things-organizational
Joe is our senior contributer. He regularly fights the clutter and our organizational... 'trials' ...with chair and whip-- *CRACK!* Frankly, if he weren't constantly on this we'd be the worse for it very quickly. Ever soft spoken, Joe none the less brings 60+ years of electronics schooling and skills. If he doesn't greet you at the counter, he's likely in back scheming and marshaling vast quantities of electronic components.
Technician and Dept. of Treasury
Never was there a more friendly face when you drop in--James must have attended an electronics finishing school in Tokyo. With mad skills in surface mount and complex circuit analysis, he can seem to be having a great time no matter how tough the problem is. See him grimmace then smile? Greatness is absorbing the design and repairing it--all in one look. Incredible.
Otocraniologist and Mascot
Bess is often the tie-breaker on tough calls. Always on site, always on task, Bess helps subdue rants, verifies tonal purity and furthers the steampunk momentum within the shop. Be sure to give a salute next time you're in.
